A large part of United Way’s strength is our volunteers – the generous members of our community who give their time to help make a difference. Without them, fewer miracles would happen in our community. Volunteers work with us in a diverse range of projects and roles.
Volunteers work with us on numerous ongoing committees to govern the organization, to review collective outcomes, support fundraising efforts, and support us in finding long-term solutions to community issues:
Through the work of United Way Kitchener Waterloo & Area, volunteers on the Community Investment Team (CIT) will learn about the needs, issues and opportunities affecting the lives of community members.
Volunteers will participate in onsite visits to a selection of supported agencies. This will provide an opportunity to ask questions and clarify the impact of programs supported by United Way KW & Area. In turn this will enhance the understanding of how these programs contribute to lasting community change, and as well as gain insight into local needs and issues. Volunteers will be assigned a selection of programs and will conduct onsite visits with the support of their volunteer team and United Way KW & Area staff.
Ensure the success of our special events by lending a hand with preparations or helping out at the event itself. We’d love to hear from you! United Way is always seeking eager event volunteers to help out. To learn more, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Community Relations Team serves as another link between United Way and funded programs, partners and community members. Volunteers maintain and enhance communications with community partners, as well as increase United Way’s presence in the community.
Experience with United Way’s community investments and impact model would be an asset. Knowledge and skills in community issues and local social service agencies is preferred.
