Workplace Campaigns

If you live or work in the Kitchener Waterloo area, your organization may run its own United Way KW & Area Workplace Campaign.

A campaign offers employees the chance to:

  • come together as a team
  • build awareness of local social service needs and resources
  • make a difference in their community by supporting the work United Way KW & Area does to change community conditions for the better.

Many workplace campaigns include a visit by a guest speaker – often someone whose life has been positively changed by one or more of the programs and initiatives United Way KW & Area supports. “Seeing is Believing” tours are another popular workplace campaign event. Employees visit local agencies to see first hand how their dollars are at work making a difference in the community.

How to give from your workplace

Giving at work is one of the simplest ways to donate to United Way KW & Area. During your workplace campaign period, you’ll be canvassed by a coworker either in person, by letter or by email. You’ll be given the opportunity to fill out a donation form (on paper or on-line) indicating the amount of money you would like to give per pay.

You complete this form once for the year. Your donation is then automatically made each pay and your receipt directed to you at the end of the calendar year, often right on your T4 slip.

During your workplace campaign period, you also have the option to make a one-time or recurring gift by credit card, debit card, or cheque and have this gift credited to your workplace’s campaign total.
